Animals by continent
Every continent has its own amazing animals. Some animals live nowhere else in the world. Take a look!
Did you know that a panda only lives in Asia? Or that a lion never lives in the snow? Each continent has its own wild animals. Here is one example from each continent.
Africa β lion
The lion lives on the savanna in Africa. A male lion has a big mane. A group of lions is called a pride.
Asia β giant panda
The giant panda lives in the bamboo forests of China. A panda eats bamboo almost all day long. There are very few left.
Europe β fox
The red fox is clever and quick. It lives in forests, meadows and even cities. You may have seen one already!
North America β bald eagle
The bald eagle is the national animal of the United States. It can catch fish with its sharp talons.
South America β macaw
The macaw is a large, colourful parrot. It lives in the Amazon rainforest. Its feathers are red, blue and yellow.
Oceania β kangaroo
The kangaroo carries its baby in a pouch. A baby kangaroo is called a joey. Kangaroos only live in Australia.
Antarctica β penguin
Penguins cannot fly, but they are brilliant swimmers. They live in large groups on the ice of Antarctica.
